Cohos Historical Society Celebrates Completion of $56,750 LCHIP-Funded Project

Nov 21 2024 The Board of Directors of the Cohos Historical Society is pleased to announce the completion of a $56,750 project to rehabilitate the Marion Blodgett Museum. The work included moisture mitigation in the basement, including concrete walls and new drainage. Work was done to stabilize the structure of the building. Additionally, the siding was repaired, the bell tower was fixed, the roof was repaired and replaced, windows were reglazed, and the entire building was painted.

Located in the former Stratford Hollow United-Methodist Church, the Cohos Historical Society (CHS) joins both New Hampshire and Vermont at the “bend in the river” to preserve our region’s history. CHS has finished work on a $56,750 project to support the Historic Rehabilitation of the Marion Blodgett Museum..

The project took several years to complete with the final work being done by Commonwealth Construction.

Grant recipients are required to raise a minimum of one dollar for each dollar provided by LCHIP. This project leveraged $56,750 in donations from other sources, including Tillotson, Bangor Savings Bank, Eversource, New Hampshire Preservation Alliance and TransCanada.

Aug 20 2020 The members of the Cohos Historical Society are saddened with the passing of one our founding members Wilson “Hoot” McMann. As a life-long resident of Stratford, Hoot had a great deal of interest in the history of the town. In the Society’s time of need, Hoot brought together a group of family and friends to revitalize the organization. We will miss his stories of Stratford and sense of humor.
